CTA 3052 - Spark Plug Wire Boot Pliers - Double Insulated Description: CTA 3052 - Spark Plug Wire Pliers - Offset Design Double Insulation Remove and Install Spark Plug Wires Safely. Offset Design. Double Insulation. Insulated handle & jaws. Small indentation in jaws allow gripping a bare terminal w/ engine running. Double insulation protects you from electric shock -- even with high-voltage electronic ignition! Allows you to remove and reinstall plug wires while the engine is running. Thick nylon jaws will not harm wires. INSTRUCTIONS For locating a misfiring cylinder: 1. Get the engine up to normal operating temperature and allow it to idle. 2. Grasp the boot of a plug wire with the tool, then twist and remove the boot from the plug. NOTE: Always grasp the boot, never the wire itself. 3. If the engine roughens or slows down, that cylinder is firing. Reinstall the wire and go onto the next cylinder. 4. When you find a cylinder that has little or no effect on idle quality when its wire is disconnected, that cylinder is misfiring. Likely causes are a bad spark plug, a faulty wire or distributor cap, or poor compression. CAUTION: On any car equipped with a catalytic converter, disconnect each wire for as short a time as possible or you may cause the coverter to overheat. Made in Taiwan. New in Packaging.
