To be clear, the female end fits 1/2 drive and the male end is 3/8 inch drive. This allows you to use smaller sockets and swivels in the tight quarters on top of the transmission. This makes it easier to get way up in there and zip the bell housing bolts out with an impact gun. This is a very heavy bar right up to the end where it reduces to 3/8. It isn't bouncy and any decent quality impact will run it.
